Amber Heard Calls Out Johnny Depp for Using Charity Donation as 'His Tax Deduction'

Johnny Depp has sent the first installment of his $7 million divorce settlement with Amber Heard directly to her chosen charities.

According to TMZ, both the ACLU and Children's Hospital of Los Angeles received checks from the actor on Wednesday. The payment is the first in a number of installments that will eventually give each organization $3.5 million.

"Following Amber Heard's announcement that her divorce settlement was to be divided equally and gifted to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union, two exceptionally deserving and important charities, Johnny Depp has sent the first of multiple installments of those monies to each charity in the name of Amber Heard, which when completed will honor the full amount of Ms. Heard's pledge," Depp's rep told TMZ in a statement.

"Ms. Heard's generosity in giving to these wonderful causes is deeply respected," the statement concluded.



Shortly after Depp, 53, and Heard, 30, reached a divorce settlement, the actress announced that she planned to donate the full $7 million to charity – stressing that money was never a factor in her decision to file a temporary restraining order against the actor.



"As described in the restraining order and divorce settlement, money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves," Heard said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

The actress added: "As reported in the media, the amount received in the divorce was $7 million and $7 million is being donated. This is over and above any funds that I have given away in the past and will continue to give away in the future."
