Much like President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden is just having fun now during his last month-and-a-half in the Oval Office. This week, it's via messing with us by going from "yes" to "maybe" to "no" re: his 2020 candidacy plans.

On Monday, when reporters asked him if he'd run for president in 2020, he gave an unexpected answer: "Yeah, I am. I'm going to run [for president] in 2020...What the hell, man." Then, on The Late Show on Tuesday night, he told Stephen Colbert:

"I'm a great respecter of fate. I don't plan on running again, but to say you know what's going to happen in four years, I just think is not rational."

Understandable, honestly-though, as Biden said himself to Colbert, "You want to become the most popular guy in America? Announce you're not running." (After all, as Esquire's own Jack Holmes pointed out on Tuesday, Hillary Clinton had approval ratings as high as 66 percent when she was Secretary of State-until they plummeted below 50 percent when she announced she'd be running.)

Now, on Wednesday, Joe Biden commented once again on his plans in 2020, keeping it short and sweet. "I have no intention of running," he said tonight, according to CNN.

Of course, if all this happened in three days, who knows what happen four years from now. As Biden himself said Tuesday night: Never say never.
