Former Vice President Joe Biden will speak at one of the events surrounding the annual SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas Sunday afternoon, according to festival organizers. If you aren't in the Lone Star State's capital city to catch Biden's speech, there's a good chance his remarks will be shown via the official SXSW live stream service.
Although Biden's speech wasn't listed on the official schedule for what would be shown via live stream from this year's SXSW, the event's Facebook page -- which is where the live footage would be streamed on -- said "we’ll be live streaming exclusive conversations, red carpet coverage, and live performances on Facebook."
If history was any indication, Biden's speech would indeed be streamed live. Former President Barack delivered an address to SXSW attendees last year and that was live streamed.
Biden's wife, Jill, was scheduled to introduce her husband on Sunday, and the two will likely talk about how they plan to make confronting and curing cancer a priority in their post-politics lives.
"We’re excited to have Vice President Biden address the creative innovators and entrepreneurs that attend SXSW," said the festival's chief programming officer, Hugh Forrest. "His commitment and leadership is crucial at a time when the smartest minds from the worlds of technology and healthcare are working together to create groundbreaking new solutions in the battle to end cancer."
Biden and his wife announced they had founded The Biden Foundation just last month, although it was not clear if Biden's remarks Sunday would be on behalf of the new nonprofit organization, which has a mission in part of "identify[ing] policies that advance the middle class, decrease economic inequality, and increase opportunity for all people." However, one of the Biden Foundation's areas of focus was listed as "The Cancer Institute."
Biden's speech was scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. CST at the Austin Convention Center. To check and see if SXSW would be streaming Biden's speech live, go to SXSW Facebook page, which will be streaming a number of events and performances from this year's festival via Facebook Live.
