Joe Biden said 'of course' he would consider Kamala Harris as his Vice President pick

WASHINGTON – One day after she ended her presidential campaign, former Vice President Joe Biden said "of course" he would consider Sen. Kamala Harris as his vice president.

"Senator Harris has the capacity to be anything she wants to be. I mean it sincerely," Biden said to reporters when asked, continuing. "She is solid. She can be president someday herself. She can be the vice president. She can go on to be a Supreme Court justice. She can be an attorney general. I mean, she has enormous capability."

Harris closed the chapter on a 2020 candidacy that began with high expectations, but she struggled with reported tumult among the campaign's staff, low polling and lackluster fundraising.

The California Senator stated the shortfall of "financial resources" needed to continue. "I’m not a billionaire. I can’t fund my own campaign. And as the campaign has gone on, it’s become harder and harder to raise the money we need to compete."

Biden also stated that he talked to Harris on Tuesday and clarified that he's "not good at keeping hard feelings" when asked about some of the strenuous moments the two had during the Democratic debates.

On the debate stage in June, the Senator criticized Biden for his past opposition to school busing and comments on working with segregationist senators.

Harris' campaign briefly surged in the polls following the debate, but her campaign failed to capitalize on the viral debate performance.

Harris and Beau Biden, the former vice president's late son, were both Democratic state attorneys general together. Harris served as California's attorney general from 2011 to 2017, and Beau Biden was Delaware's attorney general from 2007 to 2015. At the end of May, on the anniversary of Beau's death, Harris tweeted a tribute to him, writing that "Beau Biden was my friend."

Following that debate attack, Biden said he "wasn't prepared" and that his past positions were taken "out of context."

"She knew Beau, she knows me," he said.
