Transportation Supervisor

Full job description: Pay is $19.00 – $22.80 an hour.
Directs and coordinates activities of transportation, dock, and textile/soft goods salvage to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel. Directly supervises 8+ employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Plan, organize, direct, and control the operations of all divisions under Transportation in accordance with departmental budget. Establish efficient and effective routing and scheduling of vehicles for assigned store deliveries/pickups, donor pickups, transfer of merchandise from dock to stores, and rotation of donations in all stores. Maintain reports as needed on material processed directly to stores. Ensure all vehicles/forklifts are checked daily and maintained according to the preventative maintenance schedule. Responsible for the following Aftermarket responsibilities: Negotiate rates, agreements, and pick-up schedules with salvage buyers. Creates and sends invoices to salvage buyers via the use of an invoicing software program, ensuring payments are made and records. Responsible for ongoing Aftermarket income reports to the Director of Retail. Handle customer complaints. Monitor the use of gasoline credit cards. Test all new drivers, provide backup driving when necessary, and observe drivers periodically to make suggestions for improvement/corrections. Ensure that all employees follow safety guidelines and wear PPE, when applicable.

Qualifications: Highschool diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic math skills. Must maintain current TXDL and driving record acceptable to the Company’s insurance carrier. Certified ForkLift Operator. Must be available on weekends, as needed, to ensure the Company’s merchandise is delivered/picked up as scheduled. Analytical, Problem Solving, Communication, and teamwork skills.
