Jindal, Portman Tapped As Convention Speakers
The Republican National Committee announced six more speakers for the GOP convention later this month, including Sen. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
Also included in this latest round of speakers are Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, Florida Rep. Connie Mack and former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis.

Davis, a former congressman from Alabama, supported President Obama in 2008 and spoke at the Democratic National Convention that year. Since then, however, he aligned himself several times with Republican caucuses in Congress and is now a vocal supporter of Mitt Romney.
Ayotte, Portman, Jindal and McDonnell were all on the list of possible vice presidential picks and have appeared on the campaign trail with Romney on several occasions.
“This exciting group of headliners includes two successful governors, two outstanding senators, the next senator from our convention state, and a former co-chairman of the 2008 Obama campaign,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement. “The perspectives and ideas they bring to the convention stage will show all Americans that Romney and Ryan are the ticket to a better future. Former Congressman Davis especially will give voice to the frustration and disappointment felt among those who supported President Obama in 2008 and are now hungry for a new direction.”
The Republican National Convention starts on Aug. 27, and includes several other big-name speakers like Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
