Jimmy Fallon Hits 8-Month Tuesday Ratings High, Tops Kimmel and Colbert Combined

NBC’s Rio Summer Olympics may be over and done with, but that doesn’t mean its TV ratings momentum has to cease immediately.

Jimmy Fallon reaped the hangover rewards last night, hitting his top Tuesday in eight months, per Nielsen households. In the key 18-49 demographic — a secondary measurement — he beat out the combined people-meter scores for Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert. All were in originals.

Fallon’s guests last night were Dolly Parton and Donald Glover. He also welcomed Team USA’s Final Five women gymnasts, who played a little life-sized Hungry, Hungry Hippos with their host.

Fallon pulled a 0.9 rating in that aforementioned important demo, per the very preliminary metric. Meanwhile, Kimmel had a 0.4, while Colbert put up just a 0.3. As a matter of fact, a “Last Call With Carson Daly” rerun tied Colbert’s tally.

Back to households for a moment, where “The Tonight Show” posted a 3.0 rating — its best Tuesday take since December 15, 2015 (a 3.4), the night of “The Voice” Season 9 finale.

The nice 11:30 margin of victory comes one night after Fallon doubled Kimmel in the demo, even though the ABC talk show had Hillary Clinton on as guest. On Monday, Seth Meyers actually matched Kimmel’s 18-49 rating — last night, “Late Night” repeated the feat, even though the “SNL” alum’s show starts an hour later.
