Jim Harbaugh reportedly floated reunion with Colin Kaepernick in Vikings interview

Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh and his former Super Bowl quarterback Colin Kaepernick reunited at the Wolverines spring game in Ann Arbor this past weekend.

Kaepernick, who hasn't played in the NFL since 2016, hosted an on-field showcase during halftime of the Maize and Blue game, throwing to free-agent wide receivers with NFL scouts on hand.

However, there are reports that a reunion between the two could have happened in Minnesota, if Harbaugh had his way.

According to ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio, when Harbaugh interviewed to become head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, he brought up the possibility of bringing Kaepernick in as a quarterbacks coach "if/when he decided to abandon his desire to play."

Harbaugh coached Kaepernick on the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-14, going 44-19-1 during his tenure, playing in three straight NFC Championship games from 2011-13 and a Super Bowl appearance in 203.

As Florio writes, some to wonder whether part of the reason Harbaugh was not selected for the Vikings position — a vacancy that was eventually filled by former Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell — was his loyalty to his former player and his desire to onsider bringing him into the organization.

The same report says Harbaugh did not mention considering Kaepernick as an on-field option at quarterback. Florio continues, saying the reason Harbaugh wasn't selected was, "for reasons completely unrelated to his views on Kaepernick."
