Jim Carrey sends heartfelt message to Ariana Grande after she shares his depression quote

Grande, 25, took to her Instagram Story Saturday to declare her everlasting love for the "Bruce Almighty" star, revealing that her "first AIM username was jimcarreyfan42 when i was in like 4th grade."

She also shared a black-and-white picture of Carrey alongside his quote about depression.

"Depression is your body saying, 'I don't want to be this character anymore. I don’t want to hold up this avatar that you’ve created in the world. It’s too much for me,'" his quote said. "You should think of the word 'depressed' as 'deep rest.' Your body needs to be depressed. It needs deep rest from the character you’ve been trying to play."

Grande's tribute didn't go unnoticed. Carrey responded to the "Thank U, Next" singer with a sincere message, sharing another helpful quote about "deep rest" with Grande.

"@ArianaGrande I read your lovely mention of me and things I’ve said about depression. A brilliant teacher and friend, Jeff Foster was OG on the 'Deep Rest' concept," he wrote Sunday, just hours before Grande took to the Coachella stage.

He continued: "I admire your openness. I wish you freedom and peace. I feel blessed to have such a gifted admirer. Happy Easter!

Let's just say Grande was a little overwhelmed by Carrey's response. "I can’t process this or breathe hold on," she tweeted Monday morning.

After gathering her composure, Grande expressed gratitude to the comedian, tweeting, "thank u so much for your kindness. i don’t think u understand how much i adore u or what u mean to me. thank u for taking the time to share this w me. you are such an inspiration."

Grande added that she "can’t wait to tattoo this tweet to my forehead."

But, the fangirling did not stop there. Grande followed up with another tweet: "jimcarreyfan42 is a very grateful girl (right now)."

The feel-good moment comes after Grande revealed that she's emotionally depleted. "i just feel empty and i wanna have more to say / better energy to give to u and rn I don't have anything," Grande tweeted Friday, just days before quoting Carrey.

Last week, Grande shared a screenshot on her Instagram Story that showed a scan of her brain, including areas that appear to be affected by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

In the span of less than two years, the singer has endured the May 2017 terrorist bombing of her concert in Manchester, England, her May 2018 split from Mac Miller and his subsequent death in September and the end of her engagement to fiancé Pete Davidson the following month. Grande, who has been open about all these events, broke down in tears onstage in December, saying she'd had "the worst year."

But, it appears Carrey's word offered a little comfort.
