Jewel Rewears Swimsuit From 2010 Magazine Cover Shoot, Looks Even Better the Second Time Around

Five years and one child later, Jewel still looks damn good in this bikini.

On Tuesday, the songstress/memoir writer/thief of Sean Penn’s heart, 41, posted an Instagram photo from Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, where she has been vacationing with her son, Kase. The photo is a comical one because she’s showing off her swimsuit bod for the photographer while, unbeknownst to her, the 4-year-old mischief-maker, whom she described as “#AllBoy,” is prepping for some type of sneak water attack on poor old mom.

Pool hijinks aside, Jewel’s bikini bod in this photo stands out because she’s wearing the same swimsuit she rocked for the July 2010 cover of Shape magazine. It’s a blue and white striped two-piece with red ties.

We’ll argue that the Picking Up the Pieces crooner looks better in the swimsuit today than she did a half-decade ago. Sure, she looked ab fab in the perfectly polished mag photo. Perfect beach waves, bronzed skin, and pose. But there’s something about seeing her in a more natural state — on a family vacation with her hair casually tied back with a scarf — that makes her look even more beautiful. Plus, she had her son a year after the cover photo and her body looks just as good.

The singer posted a second bikini pic from her vacation. That time she was wearing a dark-colored string bikini as she posed next to her little man.

After releasing her memoir, Never Broken, and new album during the same week in September and going on a press tour, Jewel is enjoying some downtime with her son before getting back to work later this month. On Sunday, she posted on Instagram that she arrived on Necker Island for “a much needed exhale.”

Exhale away — but watch your back when Kase is around.
