Jets sign CB Berry; waive TE Epps

The New York Jets signed cornerback Aaron Berry to a two-year contract Monday and placed tight end Dedrick Epps on the waived/injured list.

Berry, who was waived by the Detroit Lions during the summer following two arrests, served a three-game suspension by the NFL.

The Jets need help at corner with Darrelle Revis likely out for the rest of the season with an ACL tear. Running back Joe McKnight had even suited up as a defensive back for depth.

Berry was expected to be a starter for the Lions before his off-the-field troubles that included a DUI charge and a second incident in which he was charged with pointing a gun at a group of people in a parking lot.
