Jets pick up Patriots castoff Sudfeld

The New York Jets claimed tight end Zach Sudfeld off waivers from the New England Patriots on Friday, the Baltimore Sun reported.

Sudfeld was let go by the Patriots on Thursday when New England signed free agent wide receiver Austin Collie.

Sudfeld had landed a job as an undrafted free agent this summer when the Patriots were in need of tight ends after Aaron Hernandez was released and with Rob Gronkowski unable to play while recovering from forearm and back injuries.

Sudfeld played in three regular-season games for the Patriots and had no receptions.
