Jessy Mendiola clarifies cheating allegation
12 Jul - Jessy Mendiola recently spoke up to deny allegations made by JM de Guzman's mother, Han Carteciano Gob, who accused her of cheating on him with Luis Manzano.
As reported on GMA, back in June, not long after Manzano announced the first anniversary of his and Mendiola's relationship, Gob broke her silence on social media and said that Mendiola was still with de Guzman when she started going out with Manzano.
Gob stated that de Guzman kept on crying when he found out that Mendiola was with Manzano in London, and that the actress supposedly has been seeing Manzano as early as September 2015.
Responding to the accusation recently, Mendiola stated that she was just friends with Manzano, and that they became much closer as friends after the infamous Manila-London flight incident involving a drunken Enrique Gil. However, they were not yet a couple or even went on a date at the time.
"For me, before I enter a relationship or allow somebody to court me, I will make sure that I have everything clear. A clean slate. You should never enter into a new relationship if things are still ambiguous. Everything should be clear," she said.
Mendiola said that she understands why de Guzman's mother would think that, but stressed that the actor knows the real truth.
"She was not involved in our relationship, so she didn't know what really happened. I understand that," she said.
The actress also stated that she has already learned not to listen to her critics, and that she is used to the negative comments thrown her way.
"I understand if you have an opinion. But there is a thin line between respect and opinion, and hate and negativity," she added.
