Jessica Simpson owns her apparent drunkenness — as only she can

Jessica Simpson‘s reality show went off the air 12 years ago, but she’s been keeping it real ever since.

The singer/fashion mogul/hot mama, 37, has been celebrating her husband Eric Johnson’s birthday for a few days now — and it culminated in a get-together Tuesday at Craig’s in West Hollywood. Simpson clearly had fun during the six-hour dinner with friends because she exited the known celeb hot spot at 2 a.m. needing some assistance from the birthday boy. (Hey, shouldn’t she have been helping carry him out? It was his birthday.)

Simpson was held up by Eric, whom she married in 2014, in a way that, well, most of us have experienced at one time or another. But shout-out to her for being hilarious about the whole thing. Craig’s is the kind of place that always has paparazzi outside, so she knew what she would be getting — and hammed it up as best she could in her seemingly out-of-sorts state.

We mean: Would you be able to be this funny if you were being kinda carried out of a bar with 20-something strange dudes standing in front of you, flashbulbs popping, taking your photo? When you look at it this way, this is downright heroic.

This isn’t Simpson’s first shaky walk out of a restaurant late at night, so that may be why she seems to roll with it — and own it. Here she is with Eric one month before their 2014 wedding getting the assist.

A year later, he kept a firm grip on her wrist — and they both tried to keep her dress up — as they left a club.

This series of photos, snapped in April in NYC, led to tabloid tales.

Simpson’s insistence on keeping it real is one of the reasons she has so many fans. (“We got an IUD, nothing’s gonna get in that uterus!”) Her birthday tribute to Johnson was more of the same with a racy photo in which she’s flashing her undies along with a sexed-up message (“I am so hot for you”).

She also shared a photo of herself upright, noting that Eric had a “hoppy” birthday.

Of course, it’s worth noting that we aren’t 100 percent sure Jessica was intoxicated in these photos. We haven’t yet heard back from her rep — and have a clear policy of not administering breathalyzers to celebrities. (We’re of the “live and let live” variety here.) Besides, everyone thought Jessica was drunk when she appeared on HSN in 2015, as she mumbled her way through her appearance. However, Simpson insiders told TMZ at the time that “her giggling and slurring is just part of her personality that surfaces from time to time.”

Like we said — Jessica Simpson has been keeping it real for years.
