Jeremy Irons joining Viola Davis in 'Beautiful Creatures'

With young adult novels all the rage in films, from The Twilight Saga to the upcoming Hunger Games, the latest addition is Beautiful Creatures, with Jeremy Irons set to join Golden Globe winner Viola Davis and Emma Thompson, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The adaptation of the book by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl is a supernatural tale about two star-crossed teens, a local boy and a mysterious new girl, played by newcomers Jack O'Connell and Alice Englert, who discover dark secrets about their families.

Richard LaGravanese, who wrote the screenplay for Water for Elephants and Beloved, wrote this script and will direct.

Irons has signed on to portray a reclusive uncle. He currently stars in cable premium cable channel Showtime's period drama The Borgias. He last appeared in Wall Street drama Margin Call and next he will star in The Words with Bradley Cooper (Limitless) and Olivia Wilde (Tron: Legacy).

Davis will star in Ender's Game, a sci-fi thriller with Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield (Hugo), Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) and Ben Kingsley.

The film is due to be released in February 2013.
