Jeopardy! contestant's surprising win with only $1

On Tuesday's Jeopardy!, contestant Manny Abbell found himself in third place heading into Final Jeopardy! But he shocked everyone with a very unlikely victory. Abbell entered the finals with a measly $1,000, while the other two contestant were tied at $12,300 each. The "Final Jeopardy!" clue was, "It's the only country that borders both the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf." None of the contestants got the right answer, which was Iran. Abbell bet $999, so he was left with a single dollar. The other two contestants both wagered their full winnings, which meant they ended with $0. So Abbell was crowned the champion. This has only happened one other time in the game's history. In 1993 another contestant won with only $1 on a similar geography question.
