CHICAGO — A smoke shop on the Northwest Side of Chicago that has experienced multiple burglaries was broken into again early Tuesday morning.

Part of the storefront is boarded up and unfortunately, this is not the first or second time the shop has been targeted during its first year of business.

The break-in at Urban City Smoke Shop in Jefferson Park was captured on video around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 4800 block of West Foster Avenue.

Richard Karmian opened the shop a little over a year ago and has since dealt with several burglaries.

“My insurance kicked me off my policy because they don’t want to deal with this anymore,” Karamian said. “It’s been the fourth time actually. It’s tough too. I’m behind on my rent so it’s been harder for me.

According to Chicago police, three suspects, all males, got out of a car, broke a window, took what they wanted and left.

The owner’s father said they took high-end cigars and tobacco.

Karmian said he plans on pivoting more towards an online business for more protection. For now, he said his doors will remain open.

No one has been arrested yet in connection with the burglary.

Area Five detecitves are investigating and anyone with information is asked to call them.
