Jeb Bush’s presidential campaign in waiting is being advised by Matt Lira, a top Republican digital operative.

Lira was deputy executive director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee in 2014, and recently completed a semester as a fellow at the Harvard Institute of Politics.

Before working at the NRSC, Lira was a top aide to former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va), where he become known for his innovative and forward-thinking approach to using technology in politics.

California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, singled Lira out for praise in his book, “Citizenville,” on the topic of using technology to innovate in politics and government.

Lira is currently working as a digital consultant to Bush's leadership PAC.

UPDATE: A Bush spokesman told Yahoo News that Lira was a consultant to the former Florida Governor's leadership PAC. But a second Bush aide said that Lira is an unpaid consultant. This story has been updated to reflect that.
