JCPD: Man kicked in ex-girlfriend’s door, waited for her to return home

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) arrested a man on Friday after he allegedly gained entry to his ex-girlfriend’s home with a previously-taken garage door opener and by kicking a door in.

A news release from the JCPD said Timothy Garland, 50, was charged with aggravated burglary, domestic assault and domestic vandalism following the incident that took place on Hughes Street.

According to the release, Garland allegedly gained entry to the home using a garage door opener he had previously taken and then kicked in an interior door. The woman, who was at work, returned to find Garland in her home.

The JCPD said the two reportedly argued before the woman locked herself in a bathroom and called 911. Police responded to the domestic violence call and Garland was taken to the Washington County Detention Center. The JCPD provided no bond amount.
