JCPD: Man arrested after driving 116 mph on I-26

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) arrested a man who allegedly drove 116 mph on Interstate 26 Tuesday.

A JCPD spokesperson said officers conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 19 around 12:30 a.m. The driver reportedly took Exit 20 and turned into a parking lot.

According to the JCPD, the driver, identified as Karsun Rain Thompson, 23, of Bristol, Virginia was charged with the following:

  • Felony evading arrest

  • Reckless driving

  • Failure to comply with financial responsibility law

  • Open container

  • No driver’s license in possession

The JCPD stated no injuries or property damage was reported during the incident and arrest.

Thompson was taken to the Washington County Detention Center.
