JB Hunt and Walmart make a multi-year deal

LOWELL, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc., announced Thursday that its subsidiary, J.B. Hunt Transport Inc., has signed a multi-year deal with Walmart Inc, according to a news release.

A intermodal service agreement was signed. This will increase the current volume and capacity of J.B. Hunt, one of the largest supply chain solutions providers in North America. The deal will also increase the commitment to Walmart’s container and chassis fleets, according to a press release.

An intermodal service agreement is an agreement where goods are moved by two means of transportation.

Walmart acquires VIZIO for $2.3 billion

The deal, which did not specify the number of years, is not surprising as J.B. Hunt and Walmart have worked for decades.

“Walmart’s long history of working with J.B. Hunt has many milestones of innovation and growth. This agreement will strengthen our commitment to delivering goods at an every day low cost to our customers and members,” said Fernando Cortes, senior vice president of transportation at Walmart.

With the agreement, J.B. Hunt will purchase Walmart’s intermodal assets.

J.B. Hunt specializes in domestic and intermodal freight movement including ocean, transloading, temperature-controlled and expedited freight.
