Jayson Boebert appears in court – no objection to Lauren’s proposed restraining order

RIFLE, Colo. (KREX) — Lauren Boebert, a 3rd district Colorado congresswoman since 2021 was back in Garfield County court Monday for a third time, seeking a permanent restraining order against her ex-husband Jayson Boebert. She appeared virtually…but as for her ex?
At about 1 30 p.m. today, Lauren Boebert’s ex-husband Jayson actually did make an appearance in the Garfield County Courthouse. You might remember the past two times, he failed to show up.
The couple separated in late 2023, and most of 2024, Lauren has been fighting for a permanent restraining order against Jayson.
The temporary protection order Lauren filed against Jayson expired just a few days ago. In her last court appearance, Boebert told the judge she feared Jayson may take out his anger on their sons.
Jayson Boebert walked into the courthouse with three others. During the 20-minute hearing, Jayson Boebert was informed Lauren Boebert had requested a permanent restraining order. After stepping out with his attorney, Boebert confirmed to the judge he did not object to that order.
Because Lauren and Jayson Boebert’s oldest son Tyler lives with Jayson, the restraining order stipulates contact is allowed, but Judge Pototsky ordered Jayson to forego– all guns, drugs, and alcohol.
Jayson Boebert also stands charged with prohibited use of a weapon, harassment, and 3rd degree assault after an argument with Tyler Boebert got out of hand, but hearings on those charges were postponed to mid-April.
The Boebert’s son Tyler will also appear in court later this spring, facing five counts of felony charges and more than 15 misdemeanors and petty offenses in connection with a string of car and property thefts in the Rifle area.
Jayson turned down my request to comment, as did the Garfield County District Attorney’s office. We’ll continue to follow these stories as they wind their way through the courts and will keep you posted.
