Jay Blades 'taking break' from BBC's The Repair Shop

Jay Blades has been reported to be taking a break from BBC show The Repair Shop.
A representative for Blades confirmed to The Mirror that filming on the new series started last week without the host. Digital Spy has reached out to Blades' team for additional comment.
The presenter and furniture restorer has been on hosting duties for the show since 2017, helming each episode as owners bring in their family heirlooms to be lovingly restored by a team of experts.

In March, Blades teased a new TV project from a different location, identified by some fans as Weston Park in Shropshire.
"Good morning all. I've been busy filming a new show and I can't wait for you guys to see it," Blades wrote on Instagram at the time.
The mystery show isn't Blades' only new TV role, as it was shared in February that he would continue hosting his Through Time series on Channel 5. The docuseries will now zero in on the history of London's West End following previous series focusing on the East End and the Midlands.

Following the announcement of the two-part docuseries, Blades said: "I love these series uncovering eye-opening, surprising and extraordinary facts about where we live.
"London is fascinating and there is so much history to delve into across the West End, with spectacular stories that many people won't have heard before. Like me, I think viewers will be a bit blown away by some of the revelations that are in store."
The Repair Shop airs on BBC One. West End Through Time will air on Channel 5.
