Jasper-Troupsburg twins sign to run at D-I Le Moyne

JASPER, N.Y. (WETM) – Two twin sisters made their college plans official to run at the next level.

Kiersten and Caitlin Lamphier signed to D-I Le Moyne College Friday at Jasper-Troupsburg High School. The decision to attend and compete for the Dolphins was an easy one for the sisters as they both realized they were a total package deal. They were going to go to the same school at the collegiate level as a team.

“We were familiar with the Syracuse area,” Caitlin Lamphier said. Their Dad went to nearby Syracuse University and getting the opportunity to experience the city and go to a great program like Le Moyne was the perfect choice.

Both sisters will run cross country, indoor track and outdoor track.

“It also gave us the opportunity to run all three seasons which we’ve been doing the last couple years, we really wanted to continue that,” added Caitlin.

Coming from a smaller school like Jasper-Troupsburg, a school that will have 23 kids in this year’s graduating class, Kiersten Lamphier says the tight-knit community will serve them well at Le Moyne.

“The support that comes from a team, being able to work together and support each other (that’s Jasper-Troupsburg),” Kiersten said.

Together, the twins are ready for the next step of life and in the process doing it together.

“We’ve been together in all of our classes, so we couldn’t imagine separating for college,” Caitlin said. “We really made sure to go somewhere where we’d both be happy and we’d both be happy and run together.”

Kiersten is a first team all-county selection and a New York State qualifier. Caitlin is a second team selection and has competed in several big events making her excel in the sport.
