Jason Terry: 'Definitely won't' be back in Dallas, close to deal with Celtics

Jason Terry does not expect to return to play next season with the Dallas Mavericks.

Terry, 34, who had spent the last eight seasons with the Mavs and helped lead them to a world championship in the 2010-11 season, said when the free agency moratorium expires on July 11, he expects to sign with the Boston Celtics, according to a report on Fox Sports Florida.

Terry also told FSF that he's still "solidifying a deal" with Boston, but there are still some details that need to be worked out. One thing for sure, though, he knows who he'll not be playing for in the 2012-13 campaign.

"It definitely won't be Dallas," Terry said. "They didn't offer (a contract)."

Terry's announcement came one day after he told FSF that he'd give the Mavericks one last chance to sign him, but apparently that has not happened. Reports are he'll sign a three-year, nearly $16 million deal with the Celtics next week if the remaining details are worked out.
