Jason Isaacs has teased that his leading role in Star Trek: Discovery will see him become the most f**ked up captain yet.

So can it, Kirk.

The British actor appeared at Comic-Con over the weekend alongside a handful of cast and crew members from the forthcoming CBS series.

As well as the mind-bending revelations that Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin Green) is in fact Spock's adopted sister, and the new fleet will feature Trek's first ever LGBT couple in the form of Rent star Anthony Rapp and My So-Called Life's Rickie Vasquez, Isaacs has teased more about his own character.

Indeed, Captain Gabriel Lorca was noticeably absent from the TV show's first trailer when it dropped earlier this year, but Isaacs has assured fans we can expect a lot of 'rough edges' from the new captain of the USS Discovery.

"[I'm] not allowed to say that my Captain will probably be the most f**ked up," Isaacs said.

"[But] he has a lot of rough edges."

During the panel, the OA star also revealed that the new generation of characters will have more complicated relationships with one another than their predecessors.

"There's a lot more explanation of who we are and what happens between us," he added.

"The stuff that goes on between the characters is compelling and exciting and risky and new, I think."

That does sound exciting.

Star Trek: Discovery premieres September 24 on CBS in the US and September 25 on Netflix in the UK.
