Japan sees 40 percent chance of El Nino emerging between spring and summer

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's weather bureau said on Friday it sees a 40 percent chance that the El Nino weather pattern would emerge between spring and summer, but there is a higher chance that the current normal pattern without either an El Nino or La Nina will continue. The Japan Meteorological Agency said last month that the La Nina weather event had faded and was almost undetectable, adding it did not expect the emergence of either this phenomenon or the opposite El Nino to occur before August.
