General Motors sales fall 12 percent in January as weather takes toll on buyers
DETROIT (AP) -- General Motors Co. said Monday that its January U.S. sales fell 12 percent due to winter storms that hit much of the country.
BY THE NUMBERS: The Detroit automaker said it sold 171,486 cars and trucks last month, down from 194,699 a year ago.
TOP SELLERS: Chevrolet Cruze compact car with sales up 16 percent to 16,828. Chevy Silverado pickup truck down 18 percent, but still top-seller at 28,926.
HOT MODELS: Chevy Corvette sports car sales more than doubled to 2,261. Buick Encore small SUV sales grew nearly 7 times to 2,366.
