Janelle Monáe gets slammed for her ‘family-unfriendly’ performance on ‘The Voice’

“Not appropriate entertainment for a family show — EVER!” “Just not my type [of] entertainment.” Too sexy for TV? That’s what a majority of fans tweeted after singer Janelle Monáe took the stage Tuesday on “The Voice.” Newsroom readers are also commenting on the controversial performance. Hip thrusts and risqué outfits are landing Monáe in hot water. Following a performance of her new single “Make Me Feel,” viewers took to Twitter to blast the artist and NBC: “Isn’t this supposed to be a family show? That performance by Janelle Monae was anything but. Younger kids watch this show for goodness sakes. Disappointing for sure. Do better!” Fans on Twitter weren’t the only ones with a strong reaction. Newsroom readers also felt the performance was too racy for primetime television: “‘The Voice’ stopped being a family show long ago.” Monáe has yet to respond to the backlash. What do you think?
