Jane Fonda, Gloria Allred to Speak at Respect Rally at Sundance Film Festival
The Respect Rally Park City, which will take place at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 20, has announced its first wave of speakers.
Jane Fonda, Common, Gloria Allred, Anthony Ramos, Nick Offerman, Daveed Diggs & Rafael Casal, Bart Powaukee, Sage Trudell, Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski and Utah Senate Candidate Jenny Wilson are all expected to speak.
The Respect Rally will also honor the one-year anniversary of the National Women’s March and Park City’s #MarchonMain.

“We take this opportunity to join in solidarity with members of the local community and visitors from the global creative community to demonstrate and voice our respect for all ethnicities, religions, genders, political and sexual orientations, to commune in respect for our land, our water and our air, and to show deference for each person’s individual experience and belief system,” the statement read. “We take this opportunity to elevate one another’s causes, understand and respect each other’s struggles and join together in unity to heal wounds and narrow the gaps that threaten to divide us.”
Last year, women including Chelsea Handler, Charlize Theron, Benjamin Bratt, Maria Bello, Rebecca Hall and Connie Britton gathered on Main Street to denounce the Trump administration. It was considered a “sister march” to the massive event in Washington D.C. The 2018 rally will begin at at 10 a.m. in Park City, Utah, on Jan. 20.
Last week, it was announced that Scarlett Johansson, Laverne Cox and Olivia Munn would be among the famous names joining the Women’s March L.A. on that same date to support women’s rights, human rights, civil liberties and social justice.

A year into the Trump presidency, focus on women’s rights and gender equality has never been greater in light of the multiple sexual harassment accusations that have rocked Hollywood and sparked the #MeToo and #TIMESUP movements.
Female empowerment dominated the Golden Globes earlier this month as countless stars wore head-to-toe black protesting sexual assault, abuse and harassment in Hollywood, and supporting those who have spoken out about these issues. This comes after heavyweights like Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Dustin Hoffman, Louis C.K., Morgan Spurlock, and many more have been accused of sexual misconduct.
