The temperatures started rising early in the day but I was ready for my battle with the heat. I got an early start from Indore and sipped ice-cold water as my body faced the oven of the Indian Summer. People ask if I don't feel hot wearing all my heavy gear and I do when I'm not moving, so as soon as I suit up, I have to get moving and get air flowing because my suit is all mesh and when air is moving, I feel comfortable.
My riding suit is bulky, but riding a motorcycle is dangerous and precautions need to be taken. I am surprised by the number of people that take to two wheels without wearing a helmet or any other safety gear and then say two-wheelers are dangerous when there's an accident. My mantra has been that if you're riding a two-wheeler, an accident is inevitable, so better to be prepared for the crash and walk out alive, rather than risk it and get seriously injured. I've fallen down from the bike about six or seven times on this journey but I've not had a single injury. Safety gear is worth its inconvenience.
It was a short ride from Indore to Bhopal and I cruised into the city known for its two large lakes that were constructed by King Bhoj.
