Jamestown teen killed in Sunday night crash

May 13—GREENE TWP. — A 17-year-old Jamestown boy died from injuries sustained in a crash Sunday night on West Jamestown Road in Greene Township.

Police said the crash happened at 7:56 p.m. as the boy was traveling north in a Jeep Cherokee in the 600 block of West Jamestown Road.

The vehicle crossed over into the oncoming lane and back into the northbound lane when he lost control. The vehicle then traveled more than 250 feet, hitting a cluster of trees on the east berm.

The teenager, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at 8:32 p.m. by Mercer County Chief Deputy Coroner Robert L. Snyder, who ruled the death accidental as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.

The crash is being investigated by state police in Mercer.

Emergy Care Ambulance and Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
