Jamestown group to host Vietnam Veterans Day event

Mar. 26—JAMESTOWN — Jamestown will hold its annual ceremony for National Vietnam War Veterans Day at 11 a.m. on Friday at Wrenn-Miller Park.

John Trotta, a Vietnam veteran who served in the Army Air Cavalry as a fire control officer, will be the featured speaker.

The Jamestown Veterans Committee hosts the event as well as annual ceremonies for Memorial Day, July Fourth and Veterans Day.

Each event begins at 11 a.m. at Wrenn-Miller Park and includes a flag raising, wreath laying, playing of taps, a proclamation from the mayor and a featured speaker.

Often the ceremonies include Boy Scout Troop 17, a local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Ragsdale High School JROTC cadets.

The public is invited to come to the free events. While there are several benches available, attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair as the ceremonies typically last 20 to 30 minutes.

Wrenn-Miller Park is at 101 Guilford Road, across the street from the Jamestown Town Hall. Free parking is available.
