With the troubling news that New England Patriots’ running back Dion Lewis needs another knee surgery, the question arises as to whom will be replacing the ‘receiving’ running back for the New England Patriots? James White may just be the man for the job as he enters into his third season in the league.

James White talked about his role in the Patriots’ offense and how he looks to contribute and grow as a player for New England.

“I just want to come out and attack each and every day,” White said, “and show this team what I can do and whatever my role is, do it to the best of my capability.”

That is a great attitude to have when replacing a fantastic player like Dion Lewis. Dion Lewis started the season for the New England Patriots before going down with a knee injury which sidelined him for the remainder of the season. James White stepped into the big shoes that Dion Lewis left and did an admirable job filling in as a player.

“The more repetitions the better you get at it. I got a lot of reps last year toward the end of the year, and I’m going to continue to progress out here during camp and just try to become a better player every day.”

Playing time makes a world of difference into a player’s performance. James White should see a healthy dose of game time as Dion Lewis nurses his knee back to full capacity. But don’t expect White to avoid Lewis’ playstyle.

“He’s, I think, one of the best players in the league at eluding defenders,” White said. “So you can watch film on him, see what he does, ask him questions. I mean, it kind of speaks for itself. You kind of try to mimic people sometimes, put a repetition in in practice. When it comes down to the game, you just try to do it and do it fast.”

If there is a running back for James White to mimic, he could pick a lot worse than Dion Lewis.
