(QUEEN CITY NEWS) — He may have grown up in North Carolina and is contently going there in his mind, but James Taylor won’t visit the Old North State in his upcoming tour.

Beginning May 29, the singer-songwriter will hit 24 U.S. mainland cities for 31 shows in five months. But the closest he reaches the Carolinas is a June 12 stop in Nashville, Tennessee. He closed the schedule in northern Virginia Sept. 15.

Taylor, known for the mellow mega-hits like “Sweet Baby James,” “Country Road,” and Fire and Rain,” lived in Chapel Hill for much of his childhood. The family moved from Boston after his dad took a job with the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

According to the Associated Press, Taylor is performing at a western Massachusetts venue, Tanglewood, 50 years since he first performed there.
