Former Saturday Kitchen presenter James Martin has posted a sweet throwback photo.

The chef and TV host took to Instagram to celebrate a weekend of sunshine in the UK, sharing a snap of himself as a child enjoying an ice cream.

"Ice cream kinda day!" he wrote in the caption, adding an ice cream cone emoji for good measure.

Last month, Martin posted a health update after undergoing multiple surgeries for a facial cancer diagnosis that required regular treatment.

Appearing on ITV talk show Lorraine on April 15, the chef updated presenter Lorraine Kelly about his condition, saying stitches from his operations were falling out.

"Things are good, everything is good right now, isn't it?" Lorraine asked him.

"You're doing really well, the show just gets better and better, you've got this tour to look forward to..."

Martin replied: "Yeah, the stitches are falling out. As you know, last time you were on, that was in the middle of operations. But as we speak, the stitches are falling out of my body at the moment.

"So yeah, that's all clear – onwards and upwards!"

The chef had previously provided his fans with a cancer update in November 2023, saying he would take a break to receive treatment.

"On a personal note, I just wanted to say thank you for 30 years of television. For me personally, I've been through a lot of shit with cancer but I'm getting sorted at the end of next month," he told a crowd at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall at the time, adding that he would be back "fighting" at the end of February this year.

"I will be back fighting at the end of February but I'm going on a little bit of a break to get that sorted," he said.
