James Corden reveals 'We still haven't chosen a name' on return from baby's birth

James Corden returned to The Late Late Show after his wife, Julia Carey, gave birth to a girl on Tuesday. The baby wasn’t due for a couple of more weeks, so her arrival caught James completely off guard. During the weekend, Julia was experiencing what ended up just being some routine end-of-pregnancy pains. When they went back to the doctor on Tuesday for a checkup, they got some surprising news. James explained, “The doctors turned to us and said, ‘Oh, no, this is probably happening today; the baby could arrive in the next few hours.'”

All about James

The surprise labor day was stressful for James and his wife, but the Late Late Show host wasn’t just thinking about the upcoming birth. “It’s a really terrible thing if you’re in a room and your wife is eight-and-a-half-months pregnant and a doctor is talking to her about very serious things, about giving birth,” James said, “and there’s really no easy way to bring up the fact you have a show to tape that day.”

Since the baby came earlier than expected, James and Julia didn’t have a name picked out for their newest addition. So when the doctor asked what the baby’s name was going to be, James blurted out the first thing that came to his mind, “We’re going to call her Beyoncé.”

The Late Late Show With James Corden airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. on CBS.
