Jake Zyrus's mum: I'll try to accept the name change

She is not happy with Jake Zyrus' name change, but will support her daughter all the same

28 Jun - Raquel Pempengco, mother of singer Jake Zyrus (formerly Charice Pempengco) recently shared her thoughts about her daughter's decision to change the name given to her since birth.

As reported on PEP, Pempengco, who was asked about Jake Zyrus' decision admitted that she was displeased at first, but will still give her support with the change.

"I have no choice but to understand the decision because it makes her happy and comfortable," she said.

Her response was in sync with Jake's grandmother, Thess Pineda, who earlier admitted to dislike the change, but will support the singer all the same.

Jake announced the name change back on 15 June, with a post on Twitter that read, "My first tweet as Jake. Overwhelmed. Saw all your love comments and I'm so happy. Finally. I love you, everyone and see you soon."
