Jailed teacher taught at five schools in past decade

May 22—A teacher facing a charge involving sexual contact with a student will remain jailed for now.

A judge again denied bond for Everett "Tim" Harding at a hearing on Wednesday morning. The Robidoux Middle School math teacher entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of first-degree sodomy related to a May 7 incident involving a 14-year-old girl.

Harding, 47, of Maryville, Missouri, remains an employee of the St. Joseph School District as officials follow an established personnel process.

Court documents allege Harding had sexual contact with the girl in his locked classroom after school on May 7. Police said during the investigation other staff members told police that they witnessed inappropriate behavior involving Harding prior to the that incident.

News-Press NOW has confirmed Harding has been employed at five different area schools in the past decade. Archives from regional newspapers and information supplied by the St. Joseph School District show the educator, who began teaching in 2003, has changed jobs several times in the past 10 years.

Harding's history in regional schools includes:

2015: Hired as a physical education/health teacher for grades K-12 at North Daviess R-III.

2017-2019: Served as middle and high school principal at Pattonsburg R-II.

2019-2021: Joined the St. Joseph School District as a math teacher at Spring Garden Middle School, resigning in June of 2021.

2021-2022: Served as the middle and high school principal for the West Nodaway R-I School District.

2022-present: Returned to work for the SJSD at Robidoux Middle School.

Harding next will appear in court for a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 30.
