According to Lauren Brooks of 1010XL 92.5 FM, the Jacksonville Jaguars are the team that’s most interested in signing former Buffalo Bills running back Karlos Williams. Williams was released by the Bills last week in a move that very few, if any, saw coming. He was scheduled to be suspended for the first four weeks of the 2016 season.

Williams was a productive running back in his rookie season in 2015. He flashed explosive acceleration in the hole, and exceptional vision. He was one of two players in NFL history to score a touchdown in each of his first six games in his career.

Williams also showed up to camp out of shape, with an unusual excuse as to why. He claimed that the pregnancy of his girlfriend led to him overeating most nights. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Williams weighed as much as 261 pounds at the start of camp, while noting that he played around 230 last season.

As far as the interest from Jacksonville goes, that also comes as a bit of a surprise. Jacksonville is deep at the position, with Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon slated to open the season as the team’s 1-2 punch, with no particular order determined yet. Denard Robinson and Corey Grant are also on the roster. It’s a situation that’s worth monitoring, but it appears that Brooks is the only person reporting such information on the matter as of right now. Williams cleared waivers earlier this afternoon.

If Williams ends up in Jacksonville, he would bring the current roster total of former Florida State players to five.
