'Jackass' Star Arrested After Anti-SeaWorld Stunt In Hollywood

Steve-O, one of the stars of the "Jackass" films and TV shows, was arrested on Sunday night after climbing a construction crane in Hollywood and inflating a balloon orca with "#SeaWorldSucks" written across it.

The stuntman recorded a series of videos and posted them to Facebook as he climbed to a height of about 100 feet with the orca, which he nicknamed "Shammy."

He also appeared to set off fireworks as night set in:

Steve-O had hinted at the stunt in an Instagram post on Saturday that showed him with "Shammy."

"We're gonna do a big dangerous stunt tomorrow in Los Angelesthat will probably get me in a lot of trouble," he wrote.

One of the Facebook clips showed him sneaking onto the property and starting the climb:

Officials were not amused by the stunt.

Some 30 police officers were called to the scene after receiving reports of apossible suicide attempt and prepared air rescue mattresses in case of a fall, KTLA said.

"We have other people we need to attend to,” LAPD Lt. Michael Ling told The Los Angeles Times. “It’s a mess.”

In addition, The Associated Press reported that five ambulances, a helicopter and 80 firefighters responded.

"Some of the resources on this hoax could have been devoted to a real emergency," Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart told the news agency.

Steve-O, whose real name is Stephen Glover, was arrested after he climbed down.

Ling told the Times that the 41-year-old would be booked on suspicion of trespassing, setting off a firework without a permit and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Steve-O's final Facebook entry for the evening showed all of the emergency vehicles gathered below the crane, and said in the caption, "Anyone wanna bail me out of jail?"

Steve-O was also arrestedin an anti-SeaWorld stunt last year in which he allegedly defaced a traffic sign on I-5 in San Diego, adding the word "SUCKS" after "SeaWorld."
