Jack Whitehall is leaving the Sky One comedy show A League of Their Own.

The comedian, 29, announced the news on social media, and so far his Facebook post has had almost 10,000 shares and over 2,300 comments.

‘I’ve decided to move on from A League of Their Own,’ the Fresh Meat star began.

‘I had the most incredible time making this show and made some great friends in doing so. Thanks to everyone involved and all the fans.’

Speaking of his co-hosts, he couldn’t help but keep the tone light by mocking Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff: ‘Jamie wept uncontrollably when I told him I was leaving, Freddie belched in my face and said he wasn’t arsed either way.’

He also cleared up the false rumours spread by one tabloid: ‘The Sun wrote that I’d quit for America which is not true. I’m staying here and doing a few things that will be on British TV in the coming months – you haven’t got rid of me yet!’

Whitehall joined the popular show as a regular panelist, hosted by James Corden, back in 2012 after making a couple of appearances in between other work.

The star had also taken to Twitter earlier in the day to thank everyone involved in the show and the say he was moving on.

Having appeared in films such as The Bad Education Movie and Mother’s Day, Whitehall has done plenty of stand-up shows and tours.

He’s also featured in TV shows like Drunk History, Thunderbirds Are Go, and has presented Travels with My Father – a series that saw him embark on all sorts of adventures across the world with his dad.
