'Ivano-Frankivsk's infrastructure was the main target' - UA Air Force on Russia's April 18 attack

Russia focused its main attack on the infrastructure of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast overnight on April 18, Air Force spokesperson, Ilya Yevlash, confirmed on national TV.

"The enemy believes that some objects were worth their attention," he said.

"The drones followed their standard routes, performing reconnaissance activities as well, They tried to combine different tactics, used roundabout ways - hard-to-reach areas along rivers, streams, where it is difficult for mobile fire groups to go."

"The drones tried to bypass Ivano-Frankivsk and attack the city from different directions - north, south," he said.

"They also moved in a line so that they would be more difficult to hit. They launched either groups or single drones during the alarm."

Air Force considers the maneuvers a Russian tactic to confuse Ukrainian air defenses.

“Our Defense Forces managed to eliminate all UAVs despite these Russian tricks," he said.

Explosions were heard in Ivano-Frankivsk and Khmelnytskyi oblasts as Russian troops launched a wave of Shahed kamikaze drones against Ukraine’s western oblasts overnight on April 18.
