Israeli, Iranian jets park next to each other at Zurich airport

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is the country's first leader in a decade to visit the World Economic Forum in Davos, and his arrival in Switzerland Wednesday created an unusual photo op: an Iranian jet parked on the tarmac next to the plane carrying Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, one of Iran's most outspoken critics.

"Zurich air traffic controllers may have inadvertently succeeded where diplomats have failed for decades," Bloomberg's Gwen Ackerman wrote. "To bring Israelis and Iranians together."

Airport spokeswoman Sonja Zoechling said the jet placement was not intentional.

Last year, following the historic deal reached by Iran and six world powers to halt the country’s nuclear program, Netanyahu called Rouhani a “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” guilty of carrying on a “charm offensive.”

Rouhani is expected to address the forum on Thursday during a session called “Iran in the World.”
