UPDATE: ISP shares details on crash that closed I-57

Update at 3:35 p.m.

Illinois State Police have shared more information regarding a car crash that closed part of Interstate 57 Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at milepost 198 near 2:30 p.m. Authorities said a golf cart fell off a trailer, resulting in a two-vehicle crash.

One person was hurt and taken to a nearby hospital. ISP did not specify any further details about the injured person.

The roadway was shut down and reopened in less than 20 minutes. ISP said no more information is available at this time.

COLES COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois State Police say the lanes have reopened. They urge that drivers use caution as emergency personnel are still active in the area of the crash.


COLES COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois State Police say a traffic crash has closed southbound Interstate 57 in Coles County near Humboldt.

The closure is near mile marker 198. Traffic is currently being rerouted at milepost 203 in Arcola.

ISP expects the closure to last roughly 30 minutes. In the meantime, they urge drivers to use caution and alternative routes.
