Iron & Grain sales to help Gilda’s Club University

Gilda’s Club University (GCU) at St. Ambrose University is having a fundraiser at Iron & Grain next week to bolster its presence on campus and continue providing essential support to young adults dealing with cancer.

Scheduled for Thursday, April 18th from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., this event is set to take place at any location of Iron & Grain Coffee House (1618 N. Main, Davenport, or 585 12th Ave., East Moline). During the fundraiser, Iron & Grain will donate 40% of all energy drink purchases from all locations to GCU to support their programs for young adults impacted by cancer.

The fundraiser is aimed at addressing the unique challenges faced by YAs, aged 18-39, who find themselves navigating the complexities of a cancer diagnosis amidst their academic, professional, and personal pursuits, according to a Friday release from Gilda’s Club. GCU recognizes the strain this age group faces and aims to alleviate it by offering tailored programs and resources.

Since its inception in 1998, Gilda’s Club Quad Cities (GCQC) has been a steadfast source of support for cancer patients and their families in the QC region, the release said. In 2022, GCU was chosen as one of two pilot sites in the country, extending vital services specifically tailored to young adults at St. Ambrose University, Davenport.

As GCU endeavors to maintain its presence on campus, support from events like the Iron & Grain fundraiser becomes increasingly crucial, Gilda’s said.

By indulging in an energy drink at Iron & Grain on April 18th, you can directly contribute to GCU’s overarching mission of empowering young adults confronting cancer.
