Irish flag raising held in Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A few dozen people gathered in downtown Scranton Sunday afternoon to witness the rising of the Irish flag as we enter the first week of the lucky month.

In front of the Lackawanna County Courthouse, there were speakers who explained the meaning of the colors of the flag and the important role the Irish played in local history.

In attendance were some city officials, including Mayor Paige Cognetti and Congressman Matt Cartwright.
