The iPhone 5s will be easy to find for Black Friday shoppers

More possible iPhone 6 details emerge in new report

It should be easier to find an iPhone 5s during the holiday shopping season. According to a report from AppleInsider that includes data from Piper Jaffray, Apple is catching up with demand, and as a result, 90% of iPhone 5s models are now available at Apple retail stores. For the two largest carriers — AT&T and Verizon — availability is even higher. For AT&T, 99% of iPhone 5s models are available, and for Verizon, 98% of iPhone 5s models are available.

Compared to last year, and when adjusted for carrier market share, these availability numbers show a 0.8% improvement from iPhone 5 numbers. Availability has also dramatically increased in just the past two weeks. On November 11, only 31% of iPhone 5s models were available.

Shipping times for the iPhone 5s also confirm that Apple is catching up with demand. On November 12, shipping times improved to 1 to 2 weeks, and on November 19, they improved to 3 to 5 days. This comes after an impressive opening weekend in September, in which Apple sold 9 million new iPhones, which includes both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c.
