The iPhone 5 is already off to a better start than the iPhone 4s, at least in terms of consumer feedback.

Nearly 40% of tweets posted about the iPhone 5 from the day it was announced until Friday morning were positive, according to data provided to Mashable from the social media research firm Crimson Hexagon. Most of the other tweets were considered neutral, meaning they simply noted the news about iPhone 5 without expressing much of an opinion one way or the other.
By comparison, a previous report from the firm found that just 26% of tweets about the iPhone 4s in the two day period after it was announced were positive while 49% were negative.

In some ways, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that the iPhone 5 had more positive feedback than the iPhone 4s. The 4s was essentially an incremental improvement over the iPhone 4, with few new notable features other than Siri and a better camera, while the iPhone 5 represents more of a leap ahead.
Still, the early positive feedback suggests just how high the demand for the new iPhone might be. Indeed, a separate study commissioned by leading Apple analyst Gene Munster at Piper Jaffray also found that 73% of tweets about the iPhone 5 announcement were positive compared to 51% of tweets about the iPhone 4s announcement.
Munster wrote in his research note that the great positive feedback for the new iPhone proves Apple will sell 6-10 million iPhone 5's in September and 49 million in the next fiscal quarter.
