A settlement reached by the City of Davenport and former employees now has the attention of the Iowa State Auditor.

Auditor Rob Sand says he’s investigating the City’s activity involving the $2 million paid out to the former employees. The City reached those separation agreements with former City Administrator Corri Spiegel and other employees. In exchange, those employees agreed not to sue the city over claims they were harassed by elected officials.

Sand takes issue with the deals being made in secret and not disclosed until after they were signed, and he said he wants to make sure the public has all the information.
